Making a fake gravity gun punt is actually not terribly complex, though this setup is not quite 1-to-1. If you really want to make the map in base HL2 (not likely!), change the sounds to their raw files.
In base HL2, the ambient_generics refuse to play the sounds, and instead crash the game. Note: Tutorial assumes the map is for Episode 2. Tip: Energy balls spawned in this way will appear unusually small. Since it isn't controlled by a player, can't be set off unless shot or sent its Explode input. Default time is 3.ĭoes no damage except physics, won't attach to striders unless hit by gravity gun. Play the sound Weapon_Crossbow.Single when it fires. fire a crossbow bolt when a button is pressed).
Make an env_entity_maker, and configure it however is needed for your projectile and use case (i.e. Make a point_template, name it template and set Template 1 to projectile. Make an entity from the list below and name it projectile (or whatever you want). Make muzzle effects with env_muzzleflash. StunstickImpact( Half-Life 2: Deathmatch). Might look weird if shots aren't accurate. Tip: You can create a second env_gunfire and use some extra tracers to make impact effects. Same damage as combine turrets (4), but shoots two bullets at once Since env_gunfire won't do damage, the damage should be done with a trigger_hurt.ĭamage can go up to 250 depending on distance and charge amount Make an env_gunfire and use this table as a reference for the settings for each weapon. US soldiers carry the semi-automatic M1 carbine, and the Wehrmacht the full-automatic Mauser M712 Machine Pistol.Half-Life 2/Portal 1 Bullets These are slightly less powerful that the primary weapons of the other classes, but are much more powerful than either side's pistol. The rocket launchers make for unwieldy weapons in a firefight, so to protect themselves while moving from one position to another the Rocket class also carries a secondary weapon. The US side carries the Bazooka, and the Germans the RPzB 54 'Panzershrek'. Rocket troops use powerful, shoulder-fired rockets to knock out entrenched enemy Snipers and Machine Gunners. US Machine gunners get the '.30 Cal' (M1919 Browning), and the Germans the MG42. Soldiers equipped with devastating, high-recoil weapons that must be deployed and then protected. Snipers also carry their faction's sidearm. In-game, both weapons have a single-zoom (roughly 3x) scope, and each kills with a single shot to the torso or head. Snipers carry the M1903 Springfield (US) or a scoped K98 (Germans). Both also carry two fragmentation grenades and their faction's melee weapon.Īn extreme-range support class with powerful rifles, vulnerable at close-range. The US Army Support class gets the BAR, and the Germans, the StG 44. Medium range soldiers with average mobility and powerful automatics. The class also carries one fragmentation grenade and one smoke grenade for providing concealment, in addition to the faction sidearm of choice (the M1911 for the US, and the Walther P38 for the Wehrmacht).
Assault soldiers equip automatic submachine guns: either the US M1A1 Thompson or the German MP40 which perform identically in-game. Both also carry two rifle grenades and their faction's melee weapon, either the Mark I trench knife (US Army) or the German entrenching tool.Ī short range, high-mobility, objective-capturing class. US Riflemen carry the semi-automatic M1 Garand, and the Wehrmacht, the bolt-action K98. The six classes available to each side are:Ī balanced, medium-to-long range all-purpose fighter. The more powerful, slower-firing K98 kills with a single shot to the torso or head.

In-game, the Garand is better at controlling multiple opponents or over closer ranges due to its higher rate of fire, but it is slightly weaker and requires two hits to the torso to kill an enemy at full health. For example, the US Army Rifleman class uses the M1 Garand, a semi-automatic rifle, whereas the Wehrmacht Rifleman wields the bolt-action K98. While subtle, these differences can have a significant impact on the tactics employed, even within the same class. While the classes available are identical for both the US Army and the Wehrmacht, weapons of each are modeled after the actual weapons used by the US Army and Wehrmacht during World War II and therefore are slightly different for each side.
